Wish I Could Remember

"A strong aptitude for rote memory is another typical cognitive tendency among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For example, children with autism may demonstrate the ability to repeat the script of an entire video verbatim or recall specific dates."

My good friend, Bernice, had a JARED STORY to share with me:

Jared called his friend Cody (Bernice's son) and asked him to wear a specific shirt to school the next day.  Cody didn't know why Jared made this request, but he wore his shirt.  The next day, Jared says, "No, Cody, not that one.  I meant the shirt with blue and gold on it."  Cody, a little confused asked him, "Jared, why do you want me to wear that shirt?"  Jared replies,  "Because, you've only worn that shirt on April 12th and on May 3rd."

Later in the week, Cody asks Jared, "Hey, Jared!  When did I last wear this shirt?"  Jared tells him,  "You wore it last Monday, and on Wednesday 2 weeks ago."

Testing his friend, Cody, on a later day, wears another shirt and asks, "So, Jared, when did I wear this shirt last?"  Jared, without hesitation replies, "Never!  You've never worn that shirt."  He was right.  Cody was wearing a brand new shirt.
