The boy and the pup

I received this funny email from Jared's teacher, yesterday:

Background:

So, a little stray puppy showed up at school today. I put him on the morning show to see if any kids recognized him. He has been playing in my classroom all morning waiting to be claimed. He's very fuzzy and has lots of sticker burs in his fur that I have been trying to pick out. Because of the burs and other debris that sticks to him, I have named him Velcro for the day.

Now:

Jared is in here and is mad at me for calling him Velcro.

"You cannot do that. He is not your owner."

I responded, "do you mean that I am not HIS owner?"

"Whatever, Ms. Payne, he is not your dog. You cannot call him that."

I said, "I know he isn't mine, Jared. But, I didn't just want to call him Puppy. So, just for today, I am calling him Velcro. He will get his real name back."

Jared, now taking a short break and holding the dog and talking to the dog and NOT ME, "I know you are not my dog. I cannot give you another name. I will not just call you Velcro. I am not your owner."
