A gift for Teacher

Got this email from one of Jared's teachers:

He’s so sweet and thoughtful. He cracks me up!!!

He came in my room this morning and stood in front of my desk just grinning at me.

I finally said, “Hi Jared. Did you need something?”

He said, “Mrs. Payne I have something for you. It’s a present and it’s special for you.”

“Well, Jared, how sweet. What is this special present.”

Then, with a great flourish, he reached into his pocket, and handed to me two AA batteries….”BATTERIES”

Backstory: Last year, just before the end of the year, I got a new DVD player for our room. I kept forgetting to put batteries in the remote, because we so rarely have the TV on. I let Jared choose and watch a movie on the last day of school though and he was most put out by the fact that we had to run the DVD player from the player rather than the remote. The first thing he said to me when he saw me this year (first day of school)….not “Hi Mrs. Payne,” but, “Do you still need batteries?” At least he has priorities.

I tell you this story for two reasons. #1, it’s funny. #2, I’m thinking that you may sit down tonight to watch TV and discover that your own remote has no batteries. If that’s the case, I have them!

It made me laugh. That's my boy. (Thanks, Shanna! Keep those "Jared stories" coming!)
