Conviction?

Jared was not obeying and so Mac and I had to ground him.  He's been trying to convince us that he deserves another chance and that we should let him out of his 'sentence'.
He is constantly asking  "Mom, I'm being good, right?"  "Mom, am I behaving?  Am I listening?"  "Mom, see, I'm doing what you ask."
He's had setbacks, and says, A LOT, "Mom, I promise I'll be good, again."  "Mom, Sorry. I will listen, again.  Sorry.  Mom, I said sorry."  (I think you get the picture.)    This morning, I finally said, "Jared, don't tell me you'll be good, just DO IT."
He then remembers Sunday's sermon, and replies, "Mom,  did you tell Pastor to say that?  He said, 'Don't tell me; Just do it!'  Did you tell him to say that?  You told him, right?  That's why he said it. "
I responded, " No, Jared, I didn't tell Pastor to say that."
Jared (ignoring me) mumbles:  "I think you did tell him.  I think Pastor goes around to houses and they tell him what to say."
Me (chuckling):  "No, Jared. Pastor says what God tells him to say.  I think God was talking to you while Pastor preached."
