Kandra stories

Every Sunday, my teenager makes it a habit of taking sermon notes while our pastor preaches. 2 days ago, sitting beside her Daddy at church, she accidentally made a stray pen mark on his pants. He looked at the mark, threw his head back and sighed. She then writes a note on her paper, "It's purty,Daddy :)" That made him smile.

Back story:  When Kandra was 2 yrs. old, we lived in an apartment. Well, she had taken a crayon and had marked the walls. I caught her in the act, and called her name. I remember her turning towards me and saying with her cute little 2 yr old voice, "It's pretty, Mommy." I had to turn around for her not to see me 'disarmed' and smiling. She is the artist in our family.

Today, Kandra is helping me fold a mountain of clean laundry. We love to watch movies while we fold clothes. Since the 'mountain' is pretty big, I decided on the LORD OF THE RINGS movies.
ME:  "I just love these Tolkien names."
Kandra:  "Mom, I'm surprised you and Dad didn't name us kids using those names."
ME:  "Well, you were 6 when the 1st movie came out."
Kandra:  "It would've been sad if you would've named Jonah differently.  I can just hear you yelling, 'Kandra! Jared! Eothen! Kandra! Jared! Eothen!  Kandra! Jared! Eothen!'  Jonah would probably say, 'I hate you, Mom.' "
                               I love my Kandra!!!
